ACCESS TESTS

Specific tests for access to higher music education:

1. Specific access tests will be developed in accordance with the provisions of articles 4 and 5 of the Order of November 21, 2016, which regulates the organization of higher artistic music education.

2. The registered people must present for the test, their official identity document and a copy of the registration application form.

3. They will be held at the Superior Music Center of Galicia, AUDITORIUM OF VALGA, Ferreirós, 1-A, Cordeiro, 36645 Valga (Pontevedra).

4. The tests are specific to each itinerary. You can review each specialty separately at the bottom of this page.

5. The qualification of the specific entrance tests will comply with the provisions of article 5.8 of the Order of November 21, 2016.

6. For the qualification of part A of the jazz itinerary test of the performance specialty, the court will issue a report stating the relationship of the program presented by each applicant and the assessment of their suitability for the access test. Likewise, the report must include (for each of the works performed) at least an assessment of the following aspects: the way of interpreting the theme, style, phrasing and language used, tempo, sound technique, the scales used, the formal sense and general coherence.

For the qualification of part A of the performance specialty test (except in the jazz itinerary), the court will issue a report stating the relationship of the program presented by each applicant and the assessment of their suitability to the test. of access. Likewise, the report (for each of the works and / or studies performed) must at least include an assessment of the following aspects: technical control of the instrument, sound quality, expressiveness and style.

7. Upon completion of the specific test, the court will publish the list of applicants presented, expressing the final grade obtained in the specific test, and of applicants not presented, ordered according to the grade obtained in the entrance test, in decreasing order , on the bulletin board and on the website of the Higher Center.

    Composing speciality

    The test will consist of:

    • Part A: the performance of a harmonic-contrapuntal work.
    • Part B: the presentation and oral defense of compositions and works carried out by the candidate.
    • Part C: the interpretation on the main instrument (or voice, in the case of singing), up to fifteen minutes, of the works determined by the court of a relationship previously presented by the candidate.
    Conducting speciality

    The test will consist of:

    • Part A: the interpretation of a program of up to twenty minutes, on the main instrument or voice (in the case of singing) made up of works of a difficulty appropriate to the level of access to these studies.
    • Part B: the analysis of an orchestral or choral work at the proposal of the court.
    • Part C: reading at sight on the piano a musical fragment chosen by the applicant from two proposed by the court.
    • Part D: a four-voice dictation, between eight and twelve bars long.
    Interpretation speciality

    The test will consist of (except the jazz itinerary):

    • Part A: the interpretation of a program of up to thirty minutes, made up of works and / or studies of a difficulty appropriate to the level of access to these studies.
    • Part B: the analysis of a work or musical fragment proposed by the court.
    • Part C: at sight reading.
    Interpretation jazz itinerary speciality

    The test will consist of:

    • Part A: the interpretation of a program, it will be an indispensable requirement that the applicant improvise in each one of them. The repertoire to be performed in part A of the access exam will consist of five themes framed within the standard jazz repertoire, showing among them formal, stylistic variety and in the choice of performance tempos.
    • Part B: the analysis of a work or musical fragment at the proposal of the court, adding content typical of jazz analysis.
    • Part C: reading and improvisation at first sight of a piece or piece of jazz.
    Musicology speciality

    The test will consist of:

    • Part A: the historical-stylistic analysis and defense of a work or fragment at the proposal of the court.
    • Part B: the realization of a text commentary or written work at the proposal of the court.
    • Part C: the interpretation on the main instrument (or voice, in the case of singing), up to fifteen minutes, of the works that the court determines of a relationship previously presented by the candidate.
    Pedagogy specialty. General itinerary and musical language

    The test will consist of:

    • Part A: the interpretation on the main instrument (or voice, in the case of singing), up to fifteen minutes, of the works that the court determines of a relationship previously presented by the candidate. The choice of the main instrument will be subject to the offer of the itineraries of each center.
    • Part B: the individual vocal test.
    • Part C: the composition of a short, didactic piece, on a melody or a text proposed by the court. The applicant must make a didactic defense of its application.
    Production and management speciality

    The test will consist of:

    • Part A: the development in writing of a project proposal, based on an assumption proposed by the court.
    • Part B: the development and subsequent oral defense of a topic related to a question related to the management of cultural policies in the musical environment. You can choose a topic from two proposed by the court.
    • Part C: the formal and aesthetic analysis of a work proposed by the court.
    • Part D: the interpretation on the main instrument (or voice, in the case of singing), up to fifteen minutes, of the works determined by the court of a relationship previously presented by the candidate.
