He is all talent!
Universos Paralelos proposes a series of radio programs to highlight the music that is beyond the radio formula. They have been operating since 1995. It has been in this program that they have wanted to highlight the work of our teacher.
For the production of this album, he has had the participation and collaboration of different professional musicians and many other artists who have put all their efforts to make this project something memorable.
We can highlight the members of the septet; Pablo Castaño (alto and soprano saxophone), Diego Alonso (tenor saxophone), Xabier Pereiro GdJazz (trumpet and flugelhorn), Luis Miranda (trombone), Iago Mourinho (piano), Alfonso Calvo (double bass, composition and arrangements), Miguel Cabana ( percussion).
In addition, it has had Ton Risco, Pablo Pascual, Paola Kianda, Moisés Fernández and Isaías Salazar.
In the same vein as his previous Sea Ahead (Free Code, 2016), Galician double bassist and composer Alfonso Calvo brings us a new collection of original songs with a calm, clean, very cool and pleasant to listen to sound, six huge compositions with the that Calvo surprises and, at the same time, makes them sound familiar to the fan’s ear (…) Calvo’s arrangements bring to mind Gil Evans ‘contributions to Miles Davis’ jazz, for his brilliant arrangements, which seek a purity within the complexity of plastering the different timbre of all instruments.
Congratulations to all the artists who have participated! It is incredible that the talent of our center is valued in this way!
