The Promotion Program of the CSM Galicia continues to take young talents to perform in major halls and international auditoriums. A new example is Sergio Manteiga García, a young man from Ordes who at only 19 years old has performed as a trombone soloist at the Musikverein in Vienna, considered one of the most important concert halls at international level, where the main symphony orchestras of the world perform and where, for example, the New Year’s concerts of the Vienna Philharmonic are held.
Thanks to the Promotion Program, students like Sergio can focus on professionalization from the beginning of their training, getting the opportunity to participate in recitals and concerts in theaters of international prestige.
“It was a special concert, because it is a hall where not everyone can perform, much less as a soloist,” says Sergio, who is a member of the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra, in the position of second trombone. In this sense, Simón Ibáñez, director of CSM Galicia, has highlighted the exceptional achievement reached by his student. “Very few musicians have the opportunity to perform as soloists at the Musikverein in Vienna. It’s like going from playing amateur soccer to playing matches at the Santiago Bernabéu or Camp Nou,” he commented.
Sergio Manteiga’s concert took place in the main hall of the Musikverein, the Golden Hall, where he performed Nino Rota’s Trombone Concerto accompanied by the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra (Bulgaria). In addition, during his stay in Austria, he gave a second concert at the Konzerthaus in the city of Klagenfurt.
