A few days ago we shared images and videos of one of the essays by Pablo Castaño, a saxophone student at CSM Galicia, with Adrián Pais, professor of this instrument at the Superior Center of Music of Galicia. They were preparing their performance at the Xulio Cuns Culture Classroom in Betanzos (A Coruña), in which they performed:
- Violin Study (Alto Saxophone Adaptation) by R. Kreutzer.
- Partita for solo flute 1013 in A minor by J. S. Bach.
- Sonata for bassoon and cello K.292 by W. A. Mozart.
- Six Metamorphoses According to Ovid’s Op.49 by B. Britten.
- Sonata in E minor for two flutes by W. F. Bach.
A great professorship experience
For students, participating in professional concerts like this one is a very useful experience, since they can experience first-hand the need to prepare a program as musically complex as the one they performed at the concert.
In the opinion of Adrián Pais, “for the student Pablo Castaño, this concert and its program led in parallel to great progress on aspects as important as listening, articulation or breathing, in addition to the flexibility required by the use of different types of saxophone “.
In addition, says the professor, “we had the opportunity to study in depth aspects of classical and baroque repertoire that the saxophone does not find in its literature”.

We share some images of different moments of the event.
If you want to learn from Adrián Pais, you can join the saxophone master class that he will offer with Xabier Casal on December 26 and 27. You have the option of attending as an active student or listener, and the complete information is at this link.
