On February 1 and 2, CSM Galicia will host a double bass master class by Antonio Romero and Todd Williamson, teachers from the Superior Music Center of Galicia. It is open to students from the center and external students.


Antonio Romero Cienfuegos

He studied superior double bass at the Conservatorio Superior de A Coruña and continued with a Continuous Training Course at Esmuc. Later he obtained the Master of Performance at the Royal College of Music in London and completed a Master in Solo Performance at the Katarina Gurska Higher Center.

He has collaborated with different orchestras such as the Galician Symphony, the Royal Philharmonic of Galicia, the RTVE Symphony Orchestra, etc.

During his career he has been awarded the 2nd prize in the XI Toledo Provincial Competition for string instruments, the 3rd for Excellence from the Paideia Foundation and the same in the International Music Competition London Grand Prize Virtuoso, among others.


Todd Williamson

He completed his Bachelor of Music at the University of North Texas (USA) and upon completion, he studied the Master of Music at the New England Conservatory of Music (Boston, USA). Subsequently, he completed two years of Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of North Texas (USA).

He was in the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra as sub-principal and in the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. In Hong Kong he taught classes in the orchestral repertoire at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. In the United States he has also collaborated with other orchestras such as the Fort Worth Symphony, Boston Philharmonic, Portland Symphony or New World Symphony.

Throughout his career he has performed as the main double bass for the Galician Symphony Orchestra, the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon (Portugal) and the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra in Fukuoka (Japan).



  1. Delve into the repertoire of the instrument both as a soloist and in chamber music.
  2. Work the orchestral repertoire with the aim of preparing orchestral tests.
  3. Prepare works for ensemble among the enrolled students that allows the chamber work.
  4. Hold a final concert where to show and share the knowledge acquired.
  5. Analyze the difference between preparing an orchestra test and a recital.



  • In-depth study of the instrument’s repertoire. From classicism to S. XX.
  • Preparation of orchestral passages extracted from Probespiel or others that the student may bring.
  • Performing a recital simulation or an orchestra test in the final concert, in front of an audience / court.
  • Mental work for a test, audition, recital …

Certificate-Diploma issued by the Superior Music Center of Galcia – Cemu Superior Galival Music – Authorized Center for Higher Artistic Education in Music and the Excellent Council of Valga.

To obtain it, the student must have attended all the sessions of the master class.
