Alfonso Calvo has a Master in Jazz from ESMUC, a Bachelor of Jazz-Double Bass with honors from Cosmac and a Degree in Music Education from USC. Musical Excellence Award from the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Xunta de Galicia.
He has recorded and shared the stage with musicians such as Marcos Pin, Michel González, Naíma Acuña, Iago Vázquez, Pablo Castaño, Marcos Teira, Xosé Miguélez, Nani García and Antonio Bravo. Currently he is part of the Marcos Teira quintet presenting the album Nós (Martín Códax award 2019), Marcel Pascual Quartet, Valentín Caamano Quartet, Zumaque and his septet project with which he has participated in jazz festivals throughout the community.
